The Story

Vernacular Branding is an intergenerational collaboration between Prof. Bhuleshwar Mate and Kaushambi Mate. It bridges fifty years of Indian design education with contemporary European architectural research.

While global branding moves toward uniformity, India’s vernacular landscape remains rooted in local knowledge and manual skill. This book serves as a living archive of a disappearing culture, treating the streets as galleries and everyday signs as cultural heritage.
